Terms, Buyer & Seller Protection
How buying, selling, payments and protection work on card90. Plain language, on purpose.
1. Buyer Protection & escrow
Every order is covered by Buyer Protection and paid through escrow: when you pay, your money is held securely by our payment provider (PayPal) and is not released to the seller until the order is confirmed. Buyer Protection covers you if the item never arrives, arrives damaged, or doesn't match the listing.
2. The escrow timeline (money is never held indefinitely)
- Ship within 5 days. The seller must dispatch with valid tracking within 5 days of payment, or the order is automatically cancelled and you are refunded in full.
- Delivery does not release funds. A “delivered” scan alone never pays the seller — that protects you from courier mis-scans, empty parcels or swapped items.
- You get up to 3 days after delivery to check the card and press “Everything's OK” or “I have an issue”.
- Release. Funds are released to the seller when you confirm, or automatically if you take no action within those 3 days (so sellers aren't left waiting forever).
- Disputes. Pressing “I have an issue” freezes the release and opens a dispute; our team reviews the evidence from both sides.
- Hard cap. No payment is ever held longer than 21 days.
3. Seller Protection
Selling is protected too. The buyer's payment is captured and held before you ship, so you never post a card to someone who hasn't paid. Once you ship on time with valid tracking and the buyer confirms (or the confirmation window lapses), your funds are released and paid out.
- Guaranteed funds. The money is already captured and held in escrow when the order appears — buyers can't back out after a card is sent in good faith.
- Proof protects you. Shipping with the tracking we record is your evidence. A buyer who falsely claims non-delivery or “not as described” must open a dispute, and we review the evidence (tracking, photos, messages) from both sides before any decision.
- No silent clawbacks. We don't reverse a completed payout without telling you and giving you a chance to respond.
- Auto-release. If the buyer goes quiet after delivery, funds release to you automatically — you're never left waiting indefinitely.
- Chargebacks. If a buyer files a PayPal chargeback, we'll work with you and submit the tracking/dispute evidence on the order's behalf. Honour the on-platform process and you're covered; ship off-platform or without tracking and you're not.
4. Fees & shipping
Buyers pay the item price, shipping, and a Buyer Protection fee (shown in full before you pay). Sellers pay a tiered commission on the item price — 5% standard, 3% for Pro sellers and1.5% for Power sellers (capped at €100). There are no listing fees.
Shipping is estimated by parcel weight and route (domestic vs. cross-region): a few raw cards in a toploader ship cheaply, slabs and boxes cost more. Sellers can set their own price, and prepaid, tracked labels are coming so the tracking that drives Buyer Protection is built in.
5. Offers & messages
- You can message a seller about any listing and make one active offer per listing; the seller can accept, counter or decline, and you can cancel any time before it's accepted. Offers must be at least 60% of the asking price — no lowballing.
- Keep payment and conversation on card90. Moving a deal off-platform removes all Buyer Protection and is the most common way people get scammed — it is not allowed.
- Be accurate and respectful. Photos of the actual card are encouraged; stock or misleading images are not.
6. Authenticity & accurate listings
Counterfeit, trimmed, recolored or otherwise altered cards are banned. Graded cards must show a real, matching certification number. Listings must accurately state the card, parallel, print run and condition. Anything you can ⚑ flag we will review.
7. Prohibited items & conduct
- No counterfeit, fake, stolen, or altered cards; no items you don't own or can't legally sell.
- No off-platform payments or contact details to take a deal elsewhere — it voids all protection for both sides.
- No harassment, fraud, fee circumvention, shill bidding, or manipulating reviews.
- We may remove listings, hold or reverse funds tied to fraud, and suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
8. Reviews
After an order completes, both buyer and seller can leave a star rating and a short review. Reviews are tied to real, paid orders, so ratings stay honest.
9. Refunds, chargebacks & disputes
If an order is cancelled, never ships, or a dispute is resolved in the buyer's favour, the buyer is refunded to their original payment method. Because funds sit in escrow until release, refunds are straightforward — the money hasn't left the system. Disputes are reviewed by our team using the evidence both sides provide (tracking, photos, messages). Where a payment dispute or chargeback is raised with PayPal, the order's tracking and dispute history are used to resolve it.
10. Taxes
You are responsible for any taxes due on your own sales. As an EU marketplace we may be required to collect and report seller information to tax authorities (e.g. under DAC7); by selling on card90 you agree to provide the information needed for that reporting.
11. Our role & liability
card90 is a marketplace that connects buyers and sellers and provides the payment, escrow and protection tools described above; the contract of sale for a card is between the buyer and the seller. We work hard to keep the platform safe, but to the extent permitted by law our liability is limited to the amounts paid through the order in question. Nothing here removes rights you have under mandatory consumer law.
12. Governing law & changes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands / EU (final jurisdiction to be confirmed by the operator's legal entity). We may update these terms; material changes will be shown in the app.
This page is a clear-language summary and a working draft — not legal advice. Final terms, privacy (GDPR) and payment (PSD2/escrow) wording will be reviewed by a lawyer before live payments are enabled. See also our Privacy Policy.
